Dalit's hands, legs severed in MP village
In a shocking incident, three persons allegedly chopped off both hands and legs of a 27-year-old dalit youth at Pagari Bangla village under Malawar police station limits in MP's Rajgarh district, apparently over a petty issue, police said on Sunday. The victim, identified as Jagdish, has been referred to Bhopal for treatment and was in a serious condition, they said. The incident took place on Saturday when the accused, identified as Arjun Thakur, Shiva Gurjar and Madan, attacked Jagdish with an axe and a sharp-edged weapon since he had complained to police against them for allegedly stealing an electricity meter from his agriculture field.
Police said that a case has been registered against the accused but no arrest has been made so far. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Kantilal Bhuria has strongly condemned the incident saying the state administration has become "defunct".
