Justice S.H.Kapadia to Release Moily's Shree Ramayana Mahanveshanam

New Delhi: June 29, 2010

Shree Ramayana Mahanveshanam, the great quest of Ramayana is authored by Dr. M.Veerappa Moily, Minister of Law and Justice will be released by Shri Justice S.H.Kapadia, Chief Justice of India here tomorrow. The stories from the Ramayana have been passed on across generations; the values attached to it are very intricately connected to our culture.

Dr. M.Veerappa Moily's shree Ramayana Mahaveshanam is a highly laudable work which, though rooted in the contemporary Indian context, addresses universal concerns and presents a unique vision of the past, present and future. The book rightly explores the Ramatattva or the true principles of the Rama-story, from a secular and modern perspective. Shri Moily has introduced several new characters and incidents in the epic while taking care to retain the essence of Valmiki's Ramayana. He has drawn freely from Jaina and folk traditions.

Shri Moily introduces topical issues into a two-thousand year old story with great skill and ease. Shree Ramayana Mahanveshanam is a translation of the Kannada epic. For his laudable work Shri Moily has been awarded the prestigious Moortidevi Award by the President of India.
