I do not think that the Bhumihars are OUTCASTE anyway. But the Tyagi and Bhumihars are engaged in Harvesting meant for the Shudras only. As I knew the Brahmins in Kumaun and Garwal, they consider Farming an OUTCASTE Phenomenon. But I have seen the Bengali brahamins pusue different Professions and Livelihood even TANNING which is meant for the Coblers only. But they are NOT outcaste. More Over, the affluent Brahamins in the Upper Income group use to enjoy BEEF Eating for which most of the CONVERSION escalated in India even in the Twenties. The Tagores were OUTCASTE and Considered SHUDRA until Tagore got the Nobel because the ancestors of Tagores smelt BEEF while it was being cooked near the Darbar of the Nawab of DHAKA.

1. Why tyagi and other boomihar were outcaste from brahmin community, they may have thier own versions reasons, but a real perspective may be there, like the deeds of Brahma, which they may be supressing. As a senior member you can ans better.

2. Birth date of Harchand and Guruchand Thakur in Today's day format, It is available in bengali calender but dont know how to convert it.
